Takedown Notice Banner

The banner has been removed. The complaint hasn't been (or has it?).

Today, I removed the banner about Flock’s takedown attempt from the homepage. In case you missed the whole thing, here are the links:

A banner on the homepage showed the status of these takedown attempts.

Cloudflare dismissed Cyble’s baseless complaint; the last correspondence with Hetzner happened on December 30, when I forwarded Flock’s email that said this site publishes public records, and asked for a copy of the document showing the relationship between Flock and Cyble.

Whether Hetzner considers the issue resolved, or whether Cyble decided to withdraw its complaint,[1] is unclear from the prolonged silence, but generally when hosting providers find a “phishing” claim credible, they will pull plugs first and ask questions later.

Either way, we’re still online.

  1. Personally, based solely on experience, not evidence, I suspect Hetzner forwarded (some portion of) my response to Cyble and Cyble never responded. It’s an explanation that would satisfy a ticket system. If so, someone who tracks the KPIs at Hetzner is likely to either follow up or close the ticket before the end of the quarter, when the “average age of open tickets” metric is typically reported. ↩︎
